HELI UPGRADES

If you are considering getting into the R/C helicopter hobby, then you have probably gotten information from several different magazines and web sites. It can be very confusing.  There are many different model available, and there does not seem to be any real way to differentiate between them.  But there is one way.  Look at the quality of the components you get in the kit.  Most all helicopter kits (and ALL of them available for under $500) are made of plastic.  They are made of plastic for one reason.  It's cheap.  It allows the manufacturer to maximize his profit.  But plastic quickly wears, and induces "slop" into the mechanics of your helicopter.  Because of this, most helicopter pilots will quickly learn that they must "upgrade" their helicopter by buying many different machined metal upgrade parts to replace the plastic parts that came with their kit.  All serious flyers go thru this upgrade ritual.  IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE !  But, the various helicopter manufacturers are very helpful !  They make all they upgrade parts and are willing to sell them to you for $100's of additional dollars !

BUT NOT QUICK !!  For example, the Quick .30 comes with a full complement of machined aluminum upgrade parts, all STANDARD in the basic kit.  You can pay a little more now the the top quality of the Quick .30 kit, or you can pay a WHOLE LOT more later to upgrade.  This table should make this clear....
